Hygiene
Hygiene visit
The main role of a hygiene visit is to clean your teeth professionally - this is usually called a scale and polish. However, perhaps the most important role is for showing you the best way to keep your teeth free of plaque and to keep your gums healthy. Carefully removing deposits that build up on teeth (tartar), and teaching you how to prevent it reforming again, will go a long way to slowing the progress of gum disease.
Our hygienists work very closely with our dentists to provide high-quality care tailored to your individual needs. Regular visits and advice will help you to build confidence in maintaining your own oral care and achieving a healthy mouth. Our dentists also carry out this treatment, but we recognise that the hygienist has been specially trained to carry out this treatment and can spend longer with you.
Our hygienists can also provide dietary advice to keep your teeth healthier for longer. They will also recommend the best oral care products for you and we have a comprehensive range for you to purchase at the practice should you wish to do so.
